In 1994, the company entered the market of slot machines and spinning reels where it slowly grew from strength to strength. WMS Gaming focused on producing some of the best video arcade games in the business. During the last few years of the 20th century, video arcade games became extremely popular. It was precisely at this juncture that WMS Industries realized a need for a subsidiary company that was solely dedicated to the gaming industry and thus WMS Gaming was established. However, during the 1980s, the popularity of pinball machines took a harsh hit and the production line was stopped. Until then, WMS Industries made reasonable business by selling pinball machines. Although the company was mainly focused on arcade entertainment, it was only during the 1980s and 1990s that it made its presence felt. WMS Industries was founded in the early 1940s and was at the time known as Williams Manufacturing Company.
